My wife/children/family are not in the US or are US citizens

In Step 5 - About your college - Dependents, you will only need to include any family members on a dependent Visa such as J-2 or F-2 who have been in the US with you during 2023 in order to obtain Form 8843 for your dependents (as they are obliged to file this to report their days of presence in the US). 

If your family members are not in the US, you can scroll to the very right corner and click the 'X'. If you are still asked to fill something in any of the boxes, you can just enter 0s and test then move forward. If you see '8843 for Family member(s)' on Step 8 - Finalizing - Review - you do not need to add this form as you would not need it.
