I’m a nonresident why I do have part-year or resident State form.

Please be advised that your residency for tax purposes can be different on Federal and State level. Each State tax office has different regulations on how they determine if you’re deemed as a nonresident, part-year resident or full-year resident for each tax year.

What the state tax offices mostly take to determinate your state residency is your income and tax reported in the state, your duration of stay and often your intention on whether you will make the State your permanent home or not., however, once again, there are other specific requirements for each state as well.

You can be 100% sure that Sprintax's residency determinations are correct as long as you have entered your details correctly during the steps.
