Your federal tax return details

Once again, the first and most important thing before completing this sub-step on State taxes - State only form page is to have your Federal tax return with you

Here is a brief explanation of the questions:
- Immediately before visiting the United States, in what country did you claim residence for the purposes of tax treaty benefits? - This question is asking where you have lived before moving to the US. If you have lived in UK but your home country is India for example, you must check UK as that was the country you lived in before coming to the US;
- Is the address in this questionnaire the same as the address on the top of your Federal Income Tax Return? - You must confirm if the address you used on your Federal tax return is the same as the one written on step State only - Your Address;
- What is the Filing Status on your federal tax return? - This refers to your marital status for the tax year that you are filing for. Please in mind it is very important to have the correct filing status reported on both your Federal and State tax return;
